Note : Have never camped here, but system made me enter a date. Made a reservation over the telephone for Memorial Weekend 2009, in January. Called 3/27/2009 to cancel and was informed we could not have our deposit back. They do not refund deposits for what they call “Premium Weekends”. This was not told to us over the phone. We received the information/confirmation via email, but by that time they already had our card number to charge us. Beware. Jerry provided very poor customer service and was downright rude.

“Casino Queen RV Park” in East St Louis, Illinois – was rated: 8
If you’re headed into St. Louis or to the casino, this is the place to stay. They offer a free shuttle to the casino (but it’s close enough to walk) and to the Metrolink train station (also walkable). No one under 21 is allowed near the casino or the hotel, which is a shame since there’s an indoor pool and exercise room that campers can use. There’s a lot of truck and train noise, and it sits right below the interstate. The sites are paved with grass in between. No picnic tables at the sites but there are plenty under little gazebos near the playground. The camp store is fully stocked and the staff was very friendly. The cable and Wi-Fi were excellent. You need a key card to open the bathrooms (2 showers and 2 stalls in each bath house).

This park is inhabited by a returning crowd of Canadians who highly covet their tenure in this park. Spaces are allocated on seniority and length of stay. There is inadequate power but, if you don’t miss air conditioning, you’ll be fine. There is a social schedule here which will make even the busiest social butterfly dizzy. Many of the activities focus on fund-raising for different causes and it can start to feel like you are constantly reaching into your wallet. Lots of good causes but, when you are there for R & R, it is a little tiresome at times. Most people here were very kind but as an American, we are often told we can be rude. Let me tell you, that many of the repeat Canadians in this park can be extremely rude, curt and insulting. If you have thick skin, you will do fine here. Don’t get me wrong, it is a paradisaic place but, those who regularly inhabit this place, know it. In one case, a new, younger couple who stayed in this park were “run out” due to having a nicer site than many of the older “established” folks. If you like a constant schedule of activities, a nice pool, beach and natural surroundings, you will love it. There are many, many folks in this park and they are all located very close together… keep your space and you will enjoy it. As for pricing, it is completely out of whack for not being a quality rv park. In the US, you could get a wonderful lot in Arizona or Texas for alot less $$$. The couple that run the park are very kind, considerate and helpful… they will bend over backwards to help you with anything you need. Look past the big attitudes of the yearly returning residents and you will be enjoy it!

“Country Hills RV Park” in Beaumont, California – was rated: 8
This was a decent little park. GPS couldn’t find it though and took us to the middle of a residential area. We weren’t too far off the beaten path though as it turned out. The campground is at the end of the road so just keep going. It is a secure park – nobody getting in here that doesn’t belong! Wouldn’t know about the facilities as we didn’t leave the rig after we hooked up. Good place to jump off from to hit the LA area on Sunday morning. We’ll be back.

” Canyon Trail RV Resort” in San Marcos, Texas – was rated: 5
Not much there except a easy overnight stop. Close to the Tanger and Prime Outlets at San Marcos. Big rig sites, all pull throughs.

“Mission RV Park” in El Paso, Texas – was rated: 4
From what I could tell, this was the only accecptable place to stop in El Paso. It is Ok for an overnight stop but that is about all. Lots of permanant residents. Park was pea-gravel that tracks in the rig. Dog walks were sand/dirt and messy. Our pull through site was long enough that we did not need to unhook the toad.

This is an absolutely beautiful park! It’s in the middle of Rockport, close to beaches, shopping, restaurants. It’s very well planned with pull-thrus and back-ins with plenty of space between rigs. Every site has a picnic table. Wonderful staff! Lots of planned activities. The place has 4 full bathrooms instead of restrooms with showers. You are made to feel welcome and at home here. This park had just experienced rain and it was very muddy. Even though the sites had been asphalted at some time, mud covered them. Spaces were tight with very little, to no room to park. With the slides out, there was no more than about 3′ between rv’s. The owner/manager was very friendly & helpful. The park tended to get loud at night with parties. The lake view was nice, but limited. There was no Wifi even though it was advertised that there was. We would not stay there again. Read more….

We’re full timer here because of a job assignment in Vacaville. This park is OK, but well worn and overpriced. They charge Southern California resort prices for 2 star accommodations. There are up charges for everything; WiFi, pets, decent sites, and etc. There were lots of long termer guests like us. This park and a similar one next door are the only local options, because the trailer parks in town that allow RV’s are all pretty trashy.
